UWO short course on diamond exploration

Student geologists at the University of Western Ontario are planning a short course on diamond exploration March 5.

Two of the speakers are The Russian Academy of Science’s Nikolai Sobolev and SouthernEra Resources’ President Christopher Jennings. Sobolev will highlight mineralogical indicators of diamond potential in the Yakutia and Arkhangelsk Kimberlite provinces in Siberia. Jennings will update recent diamond finds in the Northwest Territories.

The course, organized by the university’s student chapter of the Society of Economic Geologists, will be held at Althouse College.
