USMX gets OK for Nevada mine

USMX Inc., a Denver-based company, says it has been given the green light by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to proceed with construction on its Green Springs gold project in Nevada.

Ground breaking will start immediately, the company says, in anticipation of receiving a mining permit by early May. The company expects to produce 12,000 oz of gold in 1988 and 25,000 oz in 1989. Current ore reserves stand at 1.25 million tons grading 0.06 oz gold per ton, sufficient for a 2-year mine life. Drill-indicated reserves could double that projected mine life.
