Carolyn Parrish, as an English teacher, describes things as she sees them (re. Idiot’s guide to Parliament, T.N.M., Sept. 3-9/04).
Kofi Annan has said the U.S. invasion of Iraq is illegal, thereby making the Americans criminals. The so-called evidence of weapons of mass destruction they presented to the United Nations makes them liars, which is probably better than the doubt it casts on their intelligence-gathering abilities.
Bringing democracy to Iraq is more of a joke than a lie, if you give it two minutes’ thought.
The Americans did not learn their lesson from Vietnam, where the only thing their superior weapons did was kill a lot of people — and those were the lucky ones.
Do you think someone would be friendly to you if you blew up his house or maimed his relatives so that you could have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
It is hard describe people like this. Parrish’s term “coalition of idiots” is better than describing a criminal as a friend.
