The 1995 Symposium of The Uranium Institute will mark that organization’s 20th anniversary. The event is scheduled for Sept. 6-8 in London, England.
Key issues to be addressed include decommissioning of nuclear facilities and site restoration, public acceptance of radioactive waste management and disposal, and the legacy of the Chernobyl accident in 1986.
Other sessions will examine aspects of the uranium and nuclear fuel markets, including uranium mining, enrichment, nuclear materials transport and the impact of government restrictions.
A special session will look back at the progress which the nuclear industry has made since 1975, and look forward to the next 20 years.
Membership of the institute, also known as the International Industrial Association for Energy from Nuclear Fuel, comprises mining companies, electricity utilities, and nuclear fuel processors and traders from 19 countries and areas.
