UQAC to host nickel symposium

Graduate geology students at the University of Quebec will host their 10th annual nickel symposium in Chicoutimi on March 7.

The event, entitled “Nickel in Quebec: Potential on the Rise,” will feature a talk by provincial geologist Serge Perrault, who discovered the Lac Volant nickel-copper-cobalt showings.

Others scheduled to speak include: Bruce Ryan of Newfoundland’s Department of Mines; Sarah-Jane Barnes, a representative of the University of Quebec; and spokesmen for Falconbridge, Inco, Virginia Gold Mines, Soquem and the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources.
