Reports from the bush don’t seem to have awakened the market from its summer lull. News about Wye Resources’ encounter of a mineralized zone on the Gorham property, five miles north of Thunder Bay, Ont., has not generated much activity. Trading on a volume of 5,000 shares, Wye remained unchanged at 13 cents for the week ended Aug. 20. The zone, which is open along strike, contains copper, nickel and platinum.
Despite positive results from its Shunsby base metal project in the Swayze greenstone belt southwest of Timmins, Ont., Kirkton Resources remained unchanged at 30 cents on 7,600 shares. Samples showed grades as high as 3.53% copper and 10.77% zinc and 2.76% lead.
However, investor interest in the exploration programs in Manitoba and Mexico of Canmine Resources, the most active issue in our report period, continued to mount. In a low-high range of 20-30 cents, 175,000 Canmine shares changed hands, compared with 40,000 shares in the 17-21-cent range last week.
