The United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given approval to Viceroy Resources (TSE) to release the final version of the Environmental Impact Statement and Report (EIS/EIR) on the Castle Mountain project in San Bernardino Cty., Calif. The release of the study by BLM indicates that the government body has had all of its concerns dealt with.
Chris Mitchell, executive vice- president of Viceroy, noted that the document is now in the mail and will be up for public review for 30 days from Sept. 7.
In late September, a public county review meeting will be held where any further concerns can be brought up about the proposed heap leach gold mine. Following the numerous public scoping meetings held in the past, the company believes it has covered all concerns and does not expect any major problems from the meeting.
Following the review period, the County of San Bernardino and BLM will issue their decision on giving the project the go-ahead.
