A new geological society has been formed by 20 geologists representing the major mining and exploration companies operating in the Republic district of northern Washington.
Dave Waisman, president of the Northeast Washington Geological Society (NEWGS), said the group was formed to help focus on mining and exploration issues important to the region, and to maintain “the high level of co-operation between companies operating here.” The group is inviting anyone interested in geology, mining or exploration to join the society which plans monthly meetings and occasional field trips.
