The event coincided with the American Mining Congress Convention held in late September. Harry Conger, chairman of Homestake Mining, was master of ceremonies and Forbes Wilson was the keynote speaker.
The recent inductees will join the initial 25 mining “greats” who were honored last year in Denver, Colo. Plaques including engravings of the persons elected, together with descriptions of their accomplishments, were dedicated at the formal opening of the Leadville, Colo., facility in August. Plaques for the new honorees will be installed shortly.
The 25 posthumous honorees are: Alexander Agassiz, Dr Janet Zaph Briggs, Thomas Cole, Marcus Daly, James Dana, Otho Graves, Meyer Guggenheim, John Gustafson, Charles Hall, John Hammond, Phoebe Hearst, Frederick Heinze, James Hyde, Joseph Jeffrey, Waldemar Lindgren, Dr Donald McLaughlin, Seeley Mudd, Lucien Nunn, Senator Leroy Peck, John Powell, Rossiter Raymond, Senator William Stewart, Horace Tabor, William Thompson and Samuel Warriner.
