Two diamond drill rigs will start drilling in early September on the northeastern Ontario Iris Gold claims of Perrex Resources, the company reports.
President Alex Perron says stripping, trenching and diamond drilling to date has outlined a major pervasively silicified mineralized zone (flanked in places by echelon quartz veins up to 2.5 ft thick) over a length of 3,000 ft and a width of about 150 ft.
He says grab samples from wall rocks of the quartz veins returned values of up to 1.97 oz gold per ton, while samples from mineralized shears cutting the quartz veins returned values of up to 0.10 oz gold, and 23.1 oz silver.
In addition, Mr Perron says, drilling in late 1986 and early this year has outlined a separate gold zone along the south side of the silicified zone, about 1,200 ft long, averaging 4.5 ft in width. Values of up to 0.32 oz gold over 2 ft were obtained from holes drilled into this zone.
