Tusk acquires LaRonge option

Calgary-based Tusk Minerals (ASE) has acquired an option to earn a 50% interest in a former producer called the Anglo-Rouyn and adjacent ground, the company said recently.

Located about 35 km northeast of La Ronge, Sask., the property produced about 72,000 oz gold, 471,000 oz silver and 96 million lb copper between 1966 and 1972.

A preliminary evaluation of the property suggests that significant reserves still remain to be mined. “The tailings pond contains approximately two million tons which assayed an average 0.01 oz gold from six surface samples,” Tusk says.

Included in the option agreement is 320 acres of land called the Gem property. Located immediately north of some minerlized extensions of the old mine workings, the property contains five (3,000-ft- long approximately ) conductive zones.

Tusk says a 4-ft intersection averaging 0.09 oz gold was obtained from drilling on one of the conductive zones. The others have yet to be drilled.

Another drill hole, 500 ft west of the property yielded 6.9 ft grading 0.12 oz on one of the zones.
