TSX Venture Exchange (March 03, 2008)

Buoyed by strengthening precious and base metal prices, the junior mining-dominated S&P-TSX Venture Composite Index saw a strong week over the Feb. 19-25 trading session, gaining 101.25 points to close at 2,686.24. Daily trading volumes picked up, averaging 86.8 million shares.

Bears continued to outmuscle bulls on the junior board, with only 20 junior mineral companies managing new 52-week share price highs while 133 slipped to new annual lows.

A trio of juniors active in northern Ontario’s McFaulds Lake district posted strong volumes over the week. MacDonald Mines Exploration saw more than 23 million shares change hands, inching up half a penny to 56. Drill results from the company’s Mc- Nugget property yielded up to 112 metres of 0.18% nickel.
