The Jena Mines complex in Zimbabwe has undergone the first phase of a 16,000-metre program of surface drilling.
Trillion Resources (TSE) says 15 holes, totaling 4,460 metres, have extended the Stump orebody 150 metres to the north. Among the best intersections are 10.59 grams gold per tonne over 25.6 metres in hole T-94-4, 5.16 grams over 14.1 metres in T-94-10, 16.12 grams over 5.4 metres in T-94-12 and 5.88 grams over 4.9 metres in T-94-13.
The extended orebody has reached a depth where underground drilling is called for, so underground development is being extended northward to provide the necessary access. The Stump extension remains open to the north and at depth. The second phase of surface drilling, now under way, involves exploring for the continuation of mineralization south of the Lioness shaft, which is 2 km south of the Stump zone.
The third phase will evaluate the potential of the Termite mine, while the fourth will investigate the former producers on the 4,047-hectare property. Additional drill targets are being developed by means of geological mapping, geochemistry and geophysics.
