Treminco hard at work in Territories

Buoyed by recent drill results, Treminco Resources (TMO-T) is planning a further 1,000-metre drill program at its Sito property, 40 km north of Yellowknife, N.W.T.

Drilling this summer tested a structural target downdip from a surface gold showing. The discovery hole, S97-5, intersected a zone of copper-zinc mineralization with gold and silver credits, christened the Musk Ox zone.

Mineralization in the first hole included a 2.1-metre core length grading 0.56% copper, 0.12% zinc, 1.9 grams gold and 7.9 grams silver per tonne, as well as a 12.8-metre core length grading 0.25% copper, 0.04 gram gold and 2.5 grams silver. The same mineralized structure was intersected in two of three followup holes, one of which cut 16.9 metres grading 0.62% copper, 0.2 gram gold and 5.8 grams silver, and the other 19.2 metres grading 0.43% copper, 0.2 gram gold and 5.3 grams silver.

The sulphide mineralization appears to be enclosed in garnetiferous silicate iron formation, and it is unclear whether the sulphides are a stratabound body or a later epigenetic zone. Further geological work is under way, and the company plans to start soil sampling, geological mapping, magnetic surveys and electromagnetic surveys immediately.
