Canada’s junior exchange ended the day higher with advancing issues out pacing declining stocks by a 334-to-291 margin. The S&P-TSX Venture Exchange composite index added 6.32 points, or 0.58% and closed at 1,093.33.
Bishop Resources ended the day flat at 12 on nearly 1.6 million shares traded. Stock in the junior has traded heavily since it staked ground adjoining its Gordon Lake gold property in the Northwest Territories. The newly acquired project host 12 gold-bearing zones, which have been drill tested by some 79 holes. The best results from the historic drilling include 58 grams gold per tonne over 1.3 metres and 96.7 grams gold over 0.8 metre.
Spider Resources popped back onto investors radar screens, ending the day up 2 at 11 with over 1 million shares traded. The junior and joint venture partner, over the counter-listed, KWG Resources are working the Spider #3 base metal prospect in the James Bay Lowlands of Northern Ontario.
Northern Dynasty Minerals lost 4 to close at 80 on 463,000 shares. The Hunter Dickinson led junior is currently drilling the Pebble gold-copper-molybdenum project in southwestern Alaska. The a recent resource study, completed by Australian-based Snowden Mining Industry Consultants, nearly tripled the tonnage in the higher-grade core of the deposit to 141 million tonnes grading 0.48% copper and 0.67 grams gold per tonne from the previous 1990’s estimate of 54 million tonnes grading 0.54% copper and 0.46 gram gold.
Mindoro Resources continued to attract traders. The complete drill results from hole 5 on the Lobo project in the Philippines are expected any day now. Ahead of the results the Edmonton-based company tied up more ground around the property. Shares in the junior closed down a penny to 40 on a volume of 211,000.
Shares in IMA Explorations moved closer to a new 52-week high, adding 3, to $1.23 on 261,11 shares traded. Investors have bid up the stock since the company reported the latest soil sample results over the highly touted Navidad silver discovery in Patagonia, Argentina. The survey has extended the metal anomalies in soils to an overall strike length of 5.8 km. Highlights of the soil survey include a 1,7 km-by-300 metre silver-copper-lead anomaly over the Navidad Hill and Galena Hill areas. Greater than 2 grams silver per tonne and generally greater than 100 parts per million copper defines the soil anomaly.
