A Toronto resident has won 28 oz gold in the “Strike it Rich” contest staged this summer by Ontario Place’s Ontario North Now, in co- operation with the Ontario Mining Association.
Winner of the gold, worth about $17,000(C), is Raymond Loup, whose name was drawn from among more than 200,000 entries.
Providing the 0.9999 fine gold prize, refined by Johnson Matthey, were Agnico-Eagle Mines, BP Canada, Campbell Red Lake Mines and Dome Mines (now both part of Placer Dome), Dickenson Mines, Falconbridge Ltd., Inco Ltd., Kerr Addison Mines, Kidd Creek Mines, Lac Minerals, Noranda Minerals, Pamour Inc., Queenston Gold Mines, Royex Mining and Teck Corp.
