The Northern Miner has launched an online job board exclusive to the mining industry. The website, northernminerjobs.com, promises to match job seekers with companies looking for personnel.
Job seekers are able to browse company postings and submit their experience and credentials via a “skills profile” template.
Companies seeking to fill a position submit their criteria into a similar template on the online job board, and web-based software immediately searches the database for matches and ranks potential candidates. The template system effectively eliminates the stacks of resumes that often pile up from traditional job board postings.
In “stealth mode,” users can be seen by potential employers without being seen by their existing employers. For instance, a user can visit the site, complete the skills profile, and remain invisible to everyone — unless he wants to be contacted. In stealth mode, companies contact users via the online job board without ever seeing a name, phone number or e-mail address.
For those who are “between jobs,” the site also allows users to post contact information directly.
“We’ve launched this service because we identified a need for a job board dedicated to our industry,” says Northern Miner Publisher Doug Donnelly, “and the profiling and matching technology of our database is extremely effective.”
