Thunderwood finds more high grade at Gold Hawk

International Thunderwood Explorations has encountered more high grade gold mineralization at its wholly-owned Gold Hawk property in Malartic Twp., 13 miles west of Val d’Or, Que.

President John Heslop says the best values were found in the East zone where assays of 1.65 oz gold per ton over 4 ft, 3.01 oz over 3 ft and 1.09 oz across 5 ft in drill holes 20, 28 and 36 respectively.

Located near Aur Resources’ First Canadian project where production is expected to begin next year, Gold Hawk is the subject of a $1-million exploration program including geological mapping, vlf-em and ground magnetic surveys.

A 45,000-ft diamond drilling program has been in progress since June and with 45 holes drilled so far, Heslop says gold mineralization occurs mainly in a system of narrow quartz veins hosted in a massive diorite intrusion and in mafic volcanic flows adjacent to the “Marban Shear.”

According to Heslop, the deepest intersection on the east zone occurs in hole 30 at approximately 800 ft below surface. Results of the first eight holes included one ft of 216.81 oz. Some assay results from holes 9 to 38 are as follows:

Hole 1950-20 cut 4 ft of 1.65 oz between 687.5 ft and 691.5 ft. Hole 1950-28 intersected 5 ft of 0.34 oz between 558 ft and 563 ft. Hole 1950-36 cut 5 ft of 1.09 oz between 918 ft and 923 ft.

An additional 8,500 ft of diamond drilling will be undertaken on the property before Feb 28, to test continuity and depth of the high grade east zone.
