Third kimberlite found at Rockinghorse

Kennecott Canada Exploration has made another kimberlite discovery on Tahera‘s (TAH-T) Rockinghorse property in Nunavut. It is the third such discovery since the current exploration campaign began.

The new find, dubbed Qamutiik, occurs 9 km northwest of the recently discovered Anuri and Anuri East kimberlites. The land-based Qamutiik was intersected by two diamond drill holes. A vertical hole intersected a 59-metre interval of kimberlite from a depth of 6-65 metres. A second hole, collared from the same site at an angle of 50, intersected 78 metres of kimberlite interspersed with 19 metres of broken granite.

Microdiamond analysis will be performed at Kennecott’s laboratory in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Rockinghorse is 450 km north of Yellowknife and 120 km northwest of Tahera’s Jericho project. Kennecott, a member of the Rio Tinto (RTP-N) group, can earn up to a 62.5% interest in the property by funding all costs up to, and including, a bankable feasibility study.
