Underground sampling at the Theresa gold property has yielded encouraging results, equal partners Duration Mines and Locator Ex plorations say. Located near Long lac, Ont., the Theresa mine’s underground workings have been dewatered and surface facilities have been installed.
Channel sampling along the 3-30 crosscut on third level yielded an average grade of 0.264 oz gold per ton across 88 ft in the D zone. The sampled width comprises a composite vein zone which was opened up by the crosscut.
The partners also note that underground drilling has delineated the zone for 2,100 ft. A channel sampling program in this part of the crosscut was initiated after the D zone was recognized following a review of old drill logs. Beginning in April, Duration and Locator plan to drift along the new zone.
Since dewatering the mine, the companies have completed 34,000 ft of underground drilling, installed a headframe, power and camp facilities. Exploration is also under way on the 6th level via a decline ramp. Also, initial metallurgical testing suggests a gold recovery of more than 95% is possible.
A production decision is ex pected to be made by the end of the year.
