An exploration program is planned for this season at the Santoy Lake gold property in Saskatchewan.
The program will be carried out by Claude Resources (CRJ-T), which recently amended its joint-venture agreement with Santoy Resources (SAN-A). Under the new terms, Claude will be able to increase its working interest in the property to 70% from 50% by spending $300,000 on exploration by January 1998.
The property is 5 miles from Claude’s producing Seabee gold mine at Laonil Lake. Prospecting and trenching to date have identified eight gold zones in mineralized shear systems over a strike length of 7 km.
Drilling on four of these zones has encountered gold mineralization ranging from 2 to 25 grams gold per tonne, with widths of up to 3 metres.
A new gold-bearing quartz-sulphide shear zone with values of up to 13 grams was recently discovered, and Claude says this shear is a high-priority exploration target.
This year’s work will include compilation and mapping near known showings to determine locations for a substantial drill program.
