THE DIAMOND PAGE — Rex Diamond’s Tongo Fields appraised

The Tongo Fields diamond project of Rex Diamond Mining (RXD-T) has yielded 18.9 million carats valued at US$175 per carat.

Situated in the West African country of Sierra Leone, the project includes kimberlite fissures, small pipes and alluvial deposits.

The largest diamond source at Tongo Fields, the 16.7-million-tonne Lando dyke zone, is estimated to have an average value of US$140 per tonne. Portions of the Tongo dyke system, which has a strike length of 14,400 metres and a depth of 1,000 metres, grade as high as 3 carats per tonne.

Rex expects total operating costs to remain below US$50 per tonne.
