Partners Mazaruni Minerals (ASE) and Exall Resources (TSE) have started producing diamonds on the Mazaruni placer diamond operation on Guyana’s Mazaruni River.
A dredge is taking bulk samples in three concessions along the river to ascertain whether commercial quantities of diamonds can be produced. The diamonds recovered to date are gem quality.
“We are pleased with the capabilities of the pilot plant, which has proved that diamonds as small as 1 mm can be recovered,” says Stephen Roman, Exall’s president.
The Mazaruni River is known to contain both diamonds and gold. Currently, more than 40 dredges are working the river, on concessions both upstream and downstream of the Exall-Mazaruni concession.
