THE DIAMOND PAGE — Diadem Res. finds diamonds in California

Two samples from Diadem Resources’ (ME) property in Leek Springs, Calif., indicate diamond-bearing lamproite.

The samples confirm the presence of about 130 clear diamond shards at the first drill hole. The weight of the shards, which were taken from 200 lb. of material, is about 0.75 carat. The sub-samples represent a 120-ft. interval (from 36 to 156 ft.) of lamproite in the Adrianne pipe, which measures 7,000 ft. long, 800 ft. wide and at least 250 ft. deep.

Independent microprobe analysis of the insoluble residues from hole No. 1 suggests diamond indicator minerals, including picroilmenite, pyrope garnets and high-chrome chromites.

The Leek Springs discovery marks the first time diamond indicators have been found in an active plate margin setting.
