The Canadian Mining Hall of Fame has opened its call for nominations for the 2027 Induction season. The Hall each year seeks to bring into his ranks remarkable people whose induction is celebrated at its annual gala.
Nominees are distinguished by their leadership, achievements and contributions to Canada’s prominence in the global mining industry. Prominent inductees have included exploration trailblazer Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, mining entrepreneur Ross Beaty and royalty guru Pierre Lassonde.
“Members of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame are leaders and visionaries within our industry who have made a lasting, positive impact on Canada’s mineral exploration and mining community,” Deborah McCombe, Hall of Fame chair and technical director, Global Mining Advisory at SLR Consulting said in a release.
“Canada is recognized around the world as a leader in mineral exploration and mining, and the members of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame represent the best of our industry, serving as inspiring role models for future generations to learn from and emulate.”
Nominations can be submitted through recognized member organizations, or associate member organizations of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame. They include: the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum; the Mining Association of Canada; The Northern Miner; The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada; The Mining Associations of British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan; and the Association for Mineral Exploration.
Any organization or member of the public is encouraged to nominate a candidate if the nomination is submitted through one of the above-mentioned organizations.
The nomination deadlines for 2027 are as follows:
- May 1, 2026: Approach a member or associate member organization regarding a nomination for induction.
- May 29, 2026: Submission of nomination materials to a member or associate member organization for review.
Nomination packages must adhere to the outlined criteria and should not exceed six pages, in addition to the Nominator Letter (maximum two pages). Each nomination must also be supported by at least five and up to 10 letters of endorsement. Nomination guidelines, selection criteria, and nomination form are here.
The 2027 inductees will join the more than 210 outstanding individuals who have been inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame since its establishment in 1989. Next year’s selected candidates will be inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame on Jan. 14, 2027.
