Steven Dean, president of Teck and executive chairman of PacMin Mining, will speak at a luncheon hosted by the Vancouver branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum on Oct. 26.
Dean will discuss mining’s role in the “new economy,” as well as the relationship between productivity and real metal prices.
Vancouver-based Teck produces copper, zinc, niobium and coal, as well as gold, from 11 mines in Canada, Australia and Chile. PacMin, a subsidiary of Teck, has several gold mining operations in Australia.
The luncheon is slated for noon at the Stanley Park Pavilion. Reservations are required by Oct. 24, and the cost is $20 for members, $35 for non-members and $5 for students.
