Teck Corp. holds (subject to a 5% assessable interest by Ranger Oil) 25 coal licences immediately to the east of the Bullmoose property. Elevations range from 1,000 metres above sea level at Bullmoose Creek to almost 2,000 metres above sea level on Mount Spieker. The area contains metallurgical coal reserves of both open pit (four seams) and underground coal (two seams). Total reserves of saleable coal are in the order of 20 million tonnes, and about eight million tonnes could be recoverable from two separate open pits. The coal seams on Mount Spieker have characteristics similar to the seams at Bullmoose and could, after washing in a preparation plant, achieve similar saleable coal specifications. Annual production capacity could be 500,000-750,000 tonnes. However, the open pit waste-stripping requirements are such that development of this property will only be economically attractive when coal markets improve.
