A drill program with two machines is under way at Tandem Resources’ Moss Lake project, about 70 miles west of Thunder Bay, Ont., says President Stanley G. Hawkins.
The drill program is from the ice of Snodgrass Lake and is probing a gold-bearing zone to depth and along strike. Results from hole No 1 include 0.16 oz gold over 7 ft in the main zone at 400 ft vertical and another 8 ft running 0.31 oz in a second zone.
Hole No 2 cut 11 ft averaging 0.19 oz and another 9 ft running 0.12 oz in the main zone at about 600 ft vertical. Results are awaited from a number of other holes.
The main zone has now been traced for a length of 1,800 ft and is still open both at depth and along strike. Plans for an underground program will be seriously considered once the current drill program is completed, says Mr Hawkins.
Tandem holds a 50% interest in the Moss Lake project, with Storimin Explorations holding the balance. Tandem, however, holds about 40% of Storimin and so has a controlling interest in the project.
At Mattagami Lake in the general Casa Berardi area, Tandem has been financing North American Rare Metals Ltd. which owns 50% of a gold find in Vezza Twp.
Mr Hawkins says a gold bearing zone has now been traced for about 4,000 ft and is still open. Initial intersections included 18.7 ft of 0.19 oz; 36.1 ft of 0.11 oz, including 10 ft of 0.22 oz. Assays are still awaited for 17 holes.
Tandem also has an 8% interest in La Fosse Platinum which Mr Hawkins says has obtained high grade platinum palladium values in old drill core about 30 miles northeast of Schefferville in the Labrador trough.
Tandem plans to spend $500,000 in exploration on a concession it owns, adjoining La Fosse’s bet.
