In Guibord Twp., 17 km east of Matheson, Ont., Tandem Resources (ME) and NAR Resources (ME) have drilled a 4.4-metre intersection containing 8.6 grams gold per tonne (0.25 oz. per ton).
Contained in the mineralized 4.4 metres was a 2.8-metre interval with a grade of 13.6 grams per tonne.
“We found it in the course of chasing mag trends,” says Stanley Hawkins, president of both companies. The hole was drilled southward to intersect a steeply dipping structure mapped in previous magnetic surveys. More assay results, on samples taken from the same drill hole, are expected before the new year.
The property comprises just over 5 sq. km and adjoins the southwestern corner of the Fenn-Gib property, where Pangea Goldfields (TSE) has a preliminary drill-indicated resource of 14.8 million tonnes with an average gold grade of 1.95 grams per tonne (16.4 million tons grading 0.06 oz. per ton).
In January, the companies will drill a hole to test the downdip extension of the structure. NAR is funding $300,000 in exploration on the property to earn a half interest from Tandem.
