Preliminary drilling is under way on the Itetemia gold project in central Tanzania.
Tan Range Exploration (ASE), which is earning a 90% interest in the property, is drilling on an anomaly that measures 7 km long by 2 km wide.
Soil sampling over the area returned values of up to 5.9 grams gold per tonne, and Tan Range is carrying out an electromagnetic survey to define the extent of the initial drilling program.
The Itetemia is adjacent to Sutton Resources’ Bulyankhulu gold deposit, which is reported to contain about 2 million oz. gold.
Several major mining companies have shown an interest in both the Itetemia property and Tan Range’s Kabahelele project, also in central Tanzania.
Once drilling is completed at Itetemia, Tan Range plans to move the drilling equipment to the Kabahelele property, where a major shear zone has been identified. Sampling has returned values of up to 8.35 grams over 3.05 metres on the shear.
In the meantime, discussions with the interested parties
continue.
