Joint venture partners Tamavack Resources and International Maple Leaf continue to report encouraging drill results at their Fountain lake property in Moss Lake Twp., northwestern Ontario.
A total of 8,546 ft in 14 holes tested two anomalous gold zones outlined by the previous summer program of mapping, geophysics and geochemical surveys (N.M., Dec 28/87).
Ten holes directed at the Boundary zone all encountered gold values, with the best result being 0.23 oz gold per ton over 2.6 ft.
Four holes were drilled on the Fountain West zone, located 2,000 ft south of and parallel to the Boundary zone. Again, all holes returned anomalous gold assays, including 4 ft of 0.19 oz in hole No 9 and 3 ft of 0.15 oz in hole No 10.
Drilling resumed in January to test the down-dip and strike extensions of the Boundary zone and two new areas of gold mineralization.
Exploration activity in the Moss Twp.-Powell Lake area has picked up in the past year, following a gold discovery on the Snodgrass Lake project of Storimin Exploration and Tandem Resources. The 123-claim Tamavack-Maple Leaf group surrounds that property on three sides.
