SW Res. hits more gold at Boka

Ongoing drilling by Southwestern Resources (SWG-T) at the Boka gold project in southern China has returned encouraging assay results.

The current program is focused on the Boka 1 zone, though one of the five rigs on the property is testing the Boka 7 zone. By year-end, Southwestern expects to have tested the Boka 1 zone at 50-metre spacings.

The project is in Yunnan province, which borders Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. Southwestern can earn a 90% interest in the project from the China Yunnan Province Nuclear Industry Team 209 by spending US$4 million over four years, and paying US$1.7 million in cash and shares in the fourth year.

Results from the latest round of drilling include the following:

  • Hole 23 — 60.25 metres grading 2.8 grams gold per tonne (starting at 140.75 metres), which includes 9.6 metres of 31.6 grams (in massive sulphides);
  • Hole 24 — 90.9 metres of 2.2 grams gold (starting at 103.62 metres), which includes 11.7 metres of 5.68 grams;
  • Hole 25 — 81.4 metres of 3.65 grams (starting at 105.12 metres), including 19 metres of 7.58 grams;
  • Hole 26 — 38.4 metres of 3.86 grams (starting at 19.3 metres), including 14.8 metres of 6.45 grams;
  • Hole 27 — 74.2 metres of 5.98 grams (starting at 12.5 metres), including 20.5 metres of 15.62 grams, plus a 22.9-metre interval (starting at 131.8 metres) of 3.97 grams.
  • Hole 28 — 55.65 metres of 3.46 grams (starting at 10 metres), including 17.5 metres of 7.34 grams, plus a 15.2-metre interval of 2.7 grams (starting at 96.9 metres).

Holes 22, 31, 33 and 34 are still in progress.

This year’s US$6.8-million, 20,000-metre drill program will be followed the project’s first resource calculation.

Soil-sampling over about two-thirds of the joint-venture concessions has delineated several significant gold-in-soil anomalies, and these will be further tested by trenching and sampling.

Boka gold mineralization is hosted by carbonaceous shales in several zones, and associated with quartz veins, massive sulphides, and quartz-carbonate stockworks.
