Survey results Timmins area now available

Results are now available from a recently-completed airborne geophysical survey covering an area of 6,000 square kilometres surrounding the city of Timmins, and conducted by Ontario’s ministry of northern development and mines.

First results from another such survey, which will cover the Wawa greenstone belt in northwestern Ontario, will be released later this year, according to the ministry.

The Timmins-area survey is available for purchase at the ministry’s offices in Toronto, Kirkland Lake, Timmins, Sudbury and Thunder Bay. A complete set of 64 maps is displayed and can be bought for $120 at these offices.

The electromagnetic survey project is part of a 5-year, $10-million airborne program announced a year ago, aimed at augmenting the geoscience database in areas of the province with high mineral potential.

The map sets are available, in Toronto, at 10 Wellesley St. E., in Timmins at 60 Wilson Ave., in Thunder Bay at 435 James St. S., in Kirkland Lake at 4 Government Rd. E., and in Sudbury at 199 Larch St. (Civic Square Bldg.).
