Survey could lead to exploration

The results of a gravity geophysical survey conducted earlier this year in the Timmins district of northern Ontario could lead to new exploration.

The survey was a joint venture of the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS), Vancouver-based Placer Dome, Explorers Alliance Corp., the Geological Survey of Canada and Geomatics Canada.

“Since information is necessary for exploration, the government of Canada is committed to working with our partners to create an up-to-date and accessible geoscience knowledge base,” says Reginald Belair, member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay.

Results of the survey, which was conducted over a 2,800-sq.-km. area, could help establish a framework for new exploration in the Timmins camp.
