Surface exploration at the Comval property in the Eastern Mindanao mineral belt of the Philippines has turned up more gold for Sur American Gold (SUR-V).
Channel sampling at a recently discovered outcrop of massive sulphide/magnetite skarn mineralization averaged 3.05 grams gold per tonne across 5 metres. A separate grab sample ran 3.56 grams.
The outcrop is related to a diorite-intruded limestone unit that appears on the eastern side of the Agusan Rriver, about 4 km west of the separate Comval target. The zone of skarn mineralization itself is believed to be 500 metres long, and has been traced for 100 metres vertically.
In the Comval area, Sur has discovered 60 individual vein structures carrying upwards of 148 grams gold. At the southern Batoto target, gold also has been picked up in veinlets between larger veins.
Mineralization in the Comval area is epithermal in origin.
