Atlas Copco AB of Stockholm has signed an agreement to buy the assets of Chicago Pneumatic from the parent company Danaher Corp. of Washington D.C. for $85.5 mi llion(US). The purchase unites the two producers of industrial tools, each with about 1,500 employees and 1986 sales of about $150 million. Atlas Copco Tools AB is a division of the world-wide Atlas Copco group, specializing in the developm ent and production of industrial power tools and advanced assembly systems. It a lso designs and produces air- compressors and pneumatic as well as hydraulic equ ipment for mining, construction and manufacturing industries.
