Over the past two years, Getman Corp. has supplied a fleet of equipment to Falconbridge Ltd.’s Fraser mine. These include a scaler, two ANFO trucks and three scissor lift trucks. All the equipment is on the 44th level, the deepest level of the mine, where ramp access cut-and-fill is used to extract ore. The new 4-wheel-drive equipment fills the need for vehicles able to negotiate the level’s ramps. Before buying the articulated ANFO trucks, Falconbridge charged the holes using smaller loaders. These smaller loaders did not offer the capacities desired for efficient operation. The new ANFO vehicles have been in operation for nearly 18 months.
