Superior Industries, a U.S.-based manufacturer and supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, has acquired Miramichi-based MFE Manufacturing.
MFE designs and builds portable plants for construction, aggregate and material-handling industries.
MFE operates from a 25,000-square-foot plant at the mouth of the Miramichi River in New Brunswick. The 68-year company was family-owned since its founding in 1947, spanning four generations.
In a statement Superior said the acquisition helps it improve its offerings to customers regarding portable plant designs. Superior also pointed out that MFE’s location provides it a footprint in a location it deems strategically important.
Superior makes groundbreaking bulk-handling equipment and components, and supplies bulk-washing and classifying systems, stacking and transfer conveyors, feed systems, and ship and barge-loading equipment.
The firm also makes related components, including conveyor idlers, pulleys and accessories, and replacement parts for washing and classifying equipment.
Superior’s head office is in Morris, Minn., and the 43-year-old company has 1,300 employees and plants in Arizona, Georgia and Nebraska.
