Moncton, N.B.-based Major Drilling Group International has completed the purchase of Midwest Drilling and two related companies, Wescore Drilling and R.M. McIsaac Drilling.
Midwest is one of the largest drilling companies in Canada, with a fleet of 117 drills (80 on surface and 37 underground), as well as support equipment. In 1996, Midwest generated $39 million in revenue from drilling operations.
Midwest is active in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, Greenland and Portugal.
Major Drilling’s president, Ronald Goguen, describes the Midwest acquisition as “very strategic,” adding that “it completes our coverage of all geographic areas of Canada, and additionally giving us access to new opportunities internationally.”
The final purchase price was $12.5 million.
