SUPPLIERS NEWS ROUNDUP — Laurentian, MASHA team up for safety

Laurentian University in Sudbury and the Mines and Aggregates Safety and Health Association (MASHA) will jointly study ergonomic health problems affecting miners.

The project will create an joint ergonomist’s position at MASHA and a teaching position at Laurentian’s School of Human Kinetics, as well as an internship program designed to place ergonomic students in mines. The goal of the agreement is to improve working conditions at mines by identifying the causes of specific ergonomic injuries and recommending long-term solutions.

Ergonomics is the scientific study of the relationship between human beings and their working environment with a view to increasing efficiency.
