SUPPLIERS NEWS ROUNDUP — Kvaerner wins expansion contract

The engineering and construction arm of Kvaerner has been awarded a US$1.5-million contract to expand the Pirdop copper smelter in Bulgaria.

The company will increase anode copper production at the smelter, owned by Union Miniere Pirdop Copper, to 180,000 from 120,000 tonnes per year. The smelter is 80 km from the town of Sofia, in western Bulgaria.
