Telecommunications provider Galaxy Broadband has launched its first high-throughput “Ka-band” network in Canada, which provides burst speeds of up to 100 MB per second and committed information rates of 50 MB per second, guaranteed, the company says.
Galaxy’s satellite network covers all of North America and the firm specializes in servicing remote locations. “The platform is designed to meet the unique challenges of work camps,” the company says.
In addition to high throughput, Galaxy offers guaranteed application performance, co-location services, local LAN design and support, remote IT services, account management and real-time managed site support.
Galaxy owns all of its networks and infrastructure, and has more satellite space spectrum under contract than any other commercial Internet service provider, the company says.
Founded in 1992, Galaxy provides telecommunication solutions to North America’s oil and gas, mining, construction and pipeline sectors. The firm has 50 employees and is headquartered in Mississauga, Ont., with regional offices in Alberta, B.C. and Texas.
