Sun River drilling Arizona prospect

A 10,000-ft drilling program is under way at Sun River Gold’s United Western Mine property near Oatman, Ariz.

The drilling is designed to increase current reserves of 225,662 tons grading 0.263 oz gold per ton, President Thomas Tough says.

The 2,900-acre property covers 12 known gold-bearing quartz-calcite veins. The company is in the final stages of acquiring additional reserves on the southern extension of the deposit. It is estimated that the southern extension has 200,000 drill-indicated tons grading approximately 0.2 oz gold per ton with widths up to 30 ft.

Feasibility work in preparation for a production decision is expected to begin late 1988, Tough says. The company has begun negotiating a possible joint venture with an Australian-based company to develop the property.
