Vancouver — After years of chasing the source of high-grade ploymetallic boulders, partners RJK Explorations (RJX.A-V) and Greater Lenora Resources (GEN-T) have uncovered a 10-metre-wide zone of sulphide mineralization on the Stares-Calvert project near Thunder Bay, Ont.
A mixture of 10 grab samples and rock-chip samples were collected over the bedrock discovery. Results include:
- Sample 8 — 3.3% zinc, 1.2% lead, 0.23% copper, 134 grams silver and 0.68 gram gold per tonne;
- Sample 9 — 4.3% zinc, 0.5% lead, 0.15% copper, 84 grams silver and 0.36 gram gold;
- Sample 10 — 5.3% zinc, 0.02% lead, 0.21% copper, 19.3 grams silver and 0.07 gram gold;
- Sample 11 — 8.8% zinc, 0.08% lead, 0.1% copper, 19.7 grams silver and 0.11 gram gold;
- Sample 12 — 4.9% zinc, 0.01% lead, 0.09% copper, 10.5 grams silver and 0.16 gram gold;
- Sample 13 — 4% zinc, 0.04% lead, 0.16% copper, 19.5 grams silver and no gold;
- Sample 14 — 10% zinc, 0.02% lead, 0.1% copper, 16.3 grams silver and 0.13 gram gold;
- Sample 15 — 2.3% zinc, 0.02% lead, 0.2% copper, 21.3 grams silver and 0.16 gram gold;
- Sample 16 — 3.8% zinc, 0.01% lead, 0.11% copper, 10.6 grams silver and no gold; and
- Sample 17 — 7.4% zinc, 0.01% lead, 0.21% copper, 17.7 grams silver and 0.31 gram gold.
The mechanical stripping program exposed a wide zone of felsic rocks with a mineralized horizon lying below a laterally extensive graphitic argillite horizon. To date, only 20 metres of mineralized rock has been exposed. Initial indications are that the zone dips 80 to the north.
The partners have been seeking the source of a 2-km-long high-grade polymetallic float train. The boulders are mainly felsic volcanic rocks and appear to have come from a felsic fragmental unit up-ice. Trenching is ongoing.
