Sudbury Contact strikes more gold at Victoria Creek

Toronto-listed Sudbury Contact has intersected additional gold mineralization at the Victoria Creek project in northeastern Ontario.

Hole 25 hit 0.35 oz. gold per ton over 19.5 ft. associated with a highly silicified and intensely sheared felsic-pyritic tuff at a downhole depth of about 2,200 ft. This intersection undercut a previous intersection of 0.12 oz. over 14.9 ft. at a vertical depth of 694 ft.

Two stepout holes also intersected mineralization, averaging 0.05 oz. over 9.8 ft. and 0.08 oz. over 6.7 ft.

While additional drilling of the Main zone will be carried out, work has thus far confirmed the continuity of the mineralization at a vertical depth of 2,142 ft. over a strike length of more than 1,000 ft.

Meanwhile, another large zone of low-grade mineralization, thought to represent the western extension of the Main zone, has been found. Recent intersections have averaged 0.083 oz. over 14.7 ft. and 0.08 oz. over 9.8 ft. With the Extension zone, the company has confirmed the presence of the gold-bearing structure over a strike length of 1.2 miles. The company plans to continue exploring the Gauthier volcanic belt, the geological unit that hosts the regional structure.

A fourth drill has been mobilized to evaluate previously defined geophysical targets.

Having more than doubled its exploration budget to $3.4 million, Sudbury Contact expects to complete an additional 30,000 ft. of drilling and 1.25 miles of geophysical surveys.
