Strike plans exploration

A $228,000 exploration program has been recommended for Strike Minerals’ Thesaurus property located 12 miles northeast of Matachewan, Ont. The program will examine several surface showings associated with vein systems crosscutting a granite intrusive.

Sampling by Strike’s consulting geologist returned grab sample assays ranging from 0.198 oz to 1.7 oz gold per ton from the No 5 vein. Underground work on the No 1 vein, which was carried out by previous operators in the early 1920s, returned channel samples grading up to 4.35 oz across narrow sections of vein. Veins tend to average three feet in width, Strike not es. The Thesaurus shaft was sunk to a depth of 308 ft.
