With promising strike extensions and geophysical anomalies to test, Stratabound Minerals (ASE) has resumed drilling at the Taylor Brook property, near Bathurst, N.B.
The first hole, 96-17, tested a downdip extension of known mineralization, intersecting 30 metres of interbedded massive and stringer sulphide mineralization, with visible sphalerite and galena. The longest single intersection of massive sulphide mineralization was 5.2 metres.
Assays are only available on part of the intersection, including 5.9 metres with average grades of 2.71% zinc, 1.46% lead and 27 grams silver per tonne, as well as 3.3 metres averaging 3.24% zinc, 1.55% lead and 33 grams silver. Each of these had higher-grade sections.
The zones are at vertical depths of around 350 metres; previous holes had tested just beyond 240 metres. The intersection extends the zone 110 metres vertically, or about 145 metres downdip.
More drilling is planned; the next hole is collared to intersect the zone downdip and 100 metres along strike from the recent intersections. The results of a gravity survey suggest that thicker sulphide mineralization exists in the area.
Stratabound has added another 6.7 sq. km to its land package in the area, for a total of 25 sq. km.
