With an improved political climate in Manitoba, mining activity in that province is beginning to return to areas that have been inactive for some time, says A.E. Storey, president of Storimin Exploration (ASE), in that company’s annual report.
It has acquired an unusually large tract of land covering 17,280 acres in the Sherridon sector encompassing part of the Sherritt Gordon mine. In addition to the above staking, the 22-claim Bob Lake property of Lynn Gold Resources has been taken under option. Estimated to contain 2.8 million tons grading 1.33% copper, 1.18% zinc, 0.27 oz. silver and 0.01 oz. gold, this Bob Lake ground lies roughly in the middle of the Storimin staking. The attractive feature of the company’s overall acquisition is that it covers 75% of a zone on which several interesting copper-zinc occurrences are located.
Storimin is currently holding meetings with several larger companies to discuss a joint venture program, Storey says.
