Stockmen completes Ungava exploration

A preliminary surface exploration program has been completed by Stockmen Energy on the company’s 80,000-acre permit block in the Ungav a area in northern Quebec. Held in 50% joint venture with Delaware Resources, the property is being explored for platinum group metals.

This year’s program, which was hampered by poor weather, included re- sampling of nickel- copper showings associated with ultramafic intrusives. Nickel- copper sulphides are commonly associated with platinum group metals.

Chromite-rich layers within these intrusives have also been tested. Stockman notes that although the program was reconnaissance in nature, sufficient information has been accumulated which will aid in planning the 1987 field program. Geochemical assay data is expected within a month, the company reports.
