Starfield hits high grade

Vancouver — The first hole of a 40,000-metre drill program has expanded the high-grade zone at the Ferguson Lake nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum-palladium project in Nunavut.

Starfield Resources (SRU-V) says the intersection confirms that the grade and thickness of the massive sulphides increase with depth in the West zone. The zone still boasts 2.5 km of undrilled strike, and geophysical surveys indicate that the mineralization continues downdip.

Hole 69 tested the mineralized horizon 80 metres downdip of hole 68 (assays are pending), and hole 70, collared 80 metres downdip of hole 67, is still spinning.

The inferred resource is pegged at 32.44 million tonnes grading 0.86% copper and 0.59% nickel, plus 1.26 grams combined platinum and palladium per tonne.

Situated west of Rankin Inlet, in Nunavut’s Kivalliq region, the 38-sq.-km property consists of 34 contiguous claims in an area of low relief and numerous small lakes. The property is accessible by air from Rankin Inlet or Baker Lake.

Hole 68 was drilled as a 120-metre stepout east of hole 67, the last hole drilled during the 2000 exploration program.

Assay results from those two holes are shown in the accompanying table.
